People in Need, in collaboration with SOMOS Music Fest, Foro Juventudes and La Gigantona, are proud to present the Festival for Peace, a musical and cultural event at La Gigantona, located in Zapote.

The concert, organized by SOMOS Music Fest, aims to promote peace in Latin American countries and strengthen the ties of brotherhood between the people of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Additionally, it seeks to promote human rights and peace by recognizing art as a powerful tool for social transformation. The concert featured the participation of well-known musicians and artists from Costa Rica and Nicaragua, including El Gallopinta, Hugo Villa (Mentados), Ludwing Gómez, Cayeto (Ojo de Buey), Ceshia Ubau and Nana Echeverría.
Inauguration of the “The Great Flight” mural
During this event, the inauguration of the mural “El Gran Vuelo” took place. This mural was designed and painted by Cuban exiled artists from the Arte Libre organization to convey the message of “here we can fly free because in our countries we cannot.” Organized by the Youth Forum and its Muros de Libertad initiative, this will be the first of 7 murals in Latin America and Europe that, through ARTivism, aim to promote empathy, solidarity, and support for those who have moved to host countries.
Anniversary of La Gigantona
Located near the Presidential House in Costa Rica, La Gigantona is a family restaurant of Nicaraguan migrants that evokes the culture and flavors of the Nicaraguan Caribbean and Pacific in its dishes. “We are very happy to celebrate our first anniversary by being part of this beautiful project that promotes peace, which is what we all need,” said Nydia Elisa Monterrey from la Gigantona.
